KORE Outdoors has partnered with academic institutions, supply chain organizations, provincial and federal funders, and other grassroots organizations to strengthen the outdoor gear sector in the Kootenays. We do this by supporting innovation, improving regional manufacturing capacity, advancing circular design practices, and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to test, refine, and scale their products in the landscapes that inspire them.

Selkirk Innovates is proudly supporting the KORE ReHub through the feasibility study of hardgoods gear repair, with on-site 3D Scanning at six Kootenay Outdoor Gear Repair Tour locations, as well as design and prototyping at the Selkirk Technology Access Centre (STAC).
This is funded in part by the MITACS Program for interns from Selkirk College’s Digital Fabrication and Design Program, to engage students with research and to understand the potential business opportunities for outdoor gear repair in the Kootenays.
College of the Rockies (COTR) is working with KORE in its efforts to develop and strengthen the outdoor industry in the Kootenay region. For example, COTR is collaborating on the KORE Re-Hub Program with its Mobile Education Lounge, which will play a key role in the 2025 repair tour across the Kootenays. COTR is also proud to support the tour with a sustainable business practices inventory and study. Overall, the partnership aims to better understand current outdoor industry activity in the region and to get a sense of the labour market outlook and requirements in relation to outdoor equipment design and manufacturing.
