What brought you to the Kootenays and how long have you been here?
Left Vancouver in 1999 seeking less traffic and easier access to the mountains. My husband grew up in Nelson, he was happy to return to the mountain Mecca.
Tell us about the history and relative work experience of your founder(s).
I have been working in the active sportswear industry since 1992 focusing on design and product development, working with companies of all sizes to include performance audit, new product exploration, media asset development, marketing strategies, and supply chain consulting.
I live in a mountain town, where my life is filled with snow-sports through the winter and lake and mountain activities through the summer., filling my days with opportunities that enhance my ability to design technical, functional apparel.
SK2 design was founded in 1998, working with a wide variety of brands and development styles, schedules and strategies. I believe in designing a product for a purpose, protection from the elements, or enhancement of the activity the garments are designed for … with function and comfort first … but style a very close second!
Describe the mission, vision, goals, and aspirations of your company.
Continue to do my part in creating quality and sustainable performance apparel and ultimately be part of the shift to bring manufacturing back to Canada.
