Lynx OGT

Off-grid technology for life, work and play in the mountains. The worlds lightest weight and highest quality rechargeable lithium-ion 18650 headlamps. Brightest model is 1800 lumens, 111grams and lasts 3.5 hours on full brightness between charges while being small, simple, waterproof and dustproof and made of Aluminum, with cold-weather performance in mind. There are also mounts available that let you take the simple compact unit from the headband to your action-sports or work helmet in seconds. We also do utilitarian headlamps, and other mountain accessories. We have premium products for the world’s best backcountry riders.

Give us a brief description of your manufacturing processes and philosophy

The highest quality parts and assembly from all over the world (Korea, China, USA, Canada) where I can find the best and most honest people for each aspect. Local artwork, customer service and fulfillment. We use the lightest and highest quality materials we can find. Everything must be win-win-win. No zero-sum game philosophies. Products are built to last the test of time.

What brought you to the Kootenays and how long have you been here?

The mountains and the unique people. I’ve been here eight years.

Tell us about the history and relative work experience of your founder(s).

I’m Swiss-Canadian and grew up in Vancouver. I started off with Hydrogen and vegetable-oil powered cars, processing plants and fuel at 17 as my first business. No formal education. Lots of time spent in the mountains snowmobiling, mountain-biking, skiing and hiking.

Describe the mission, vision, goals, and aspirations of your company.

The headlamps are just the start. A complete system of the highest quality and longest lasting off-grid products are on the way. All products must be simple with high efficiency and performance and extremely low weight. We never do toys, Lynx OGT is currently experimenting. I see the products becoming more niche and lighter/higher performance as time goes on. It will also be utilitarian technology designed for world-wide applications, using the power of nature for the needs of mankind.
