Wildelore is a new outdoor apparel company for mothers in nature and was created with the mission to empower women in all phases to spend more time outdoors. We’ve just launched our first product into the world — the All Phases Fleece — a sweater designed for before, during and after pregnancy, nursing, postpartum and beyond, and have received a very warm welcome from the community. Through our products as well as the content on our blog and social media channels, it is our aim to help women remember just how wild they really are, and to improve their quality life and their families. Because women in all phases deserve a place in the outdoors!
Give us a brief description of your manufacturing processes and philosophy.
Currently we manufacture our product overseas ethically in a WRAP-certified facility and we use 100% post-consumer polyester. It is important to us that we partner with facilities that abide by specific regulations in order to minimize our footprint as a company. We intend to deepen this commitment throughout all our future product offerings and processes, and to explore local manufacturing as a potential as well. Quality is at the core of Wildelore and it is our hope that our sweaters will be found in second-hand stores 20 years from now.
How many employees and/or contractors do you work with?
My husband and I are doing everything right now.
What brought you to the Kootenays and how long have you been here?
Chas came here via treeplanting and ended up buying a house. I came out to visit from Ontario in 2019 for three months and haven’t gone back. We debated going back to Ontario to be closer to family, but couldn’t pull ourselves away from the slower pace of life and proximity to nature. This company could not have been born in a more perfect place!
Tell us about the history and relative work experience of your founder(s).
Chas and I both went to music school and have no background in fashion. Hence we worked with a designer in Vancouver for our All Phases Fleece. (The designer has worked with the likes of Arcteryx, Lululemon, Aritizia, etc.) Chas is a city firefighter here in Nelson and I work full time on this business.
Describe the mission, vision, goals, and aspirations of your company.
Our mission is to empower women to spend more time outdoors in every phase of their lives, and to remember their wild nature. We do that by creating beautiful, functional, and transformable clothing that can be worn during pregnancy, nursing, and beyond. Our vision is to make life outdoors more accessible to women, and to become a leading outdoor wear brand for women and their families.
