We are currently developing high-performance ski products made of plant-based materials, such as flax and bio-based plastics, with the intention of bringing our own products to market. We will also manufacture locally made plant-derived parts that other local companies can utilize within their own products.
Give us a brief description of your manufacturing processes and philosophy.
Our philosophy is to “make better and consume better.” We want to create our products in a more sustainable way, continuously improve upon these methods, and we want to enable other local businesses to do the same. Our processes that are currently being developed involve casting and composite molding, tried and trued production methods, but with new and very exciting materials.
How many employees and/or contractors do you work with?
Currently I’m a one-man operation.
What brought you to the Kootenays and how long have you been here?
The mountains, the skiing, and the biking brought me here.
Tell us about the history and relative work experience of your founder(s).
My love for manufacturing started with a Canadian company called We Are One Composites, where I was involved in hand-laying carbon fibre composite mountain bike wheels. After leaving to a different city, I pursued more composite work and found myself in the ski industry, working for a Canadian ski manufacturer called Foon Skis, where I had the opportunity to run operations for their ski production.
Describe the mission, vision, goals, and aspirations of your company.
Our mission is to make high-quality ski products in British Columbia that utilize composite materials and plastics derived from plants. By doing this, we believe we can be a part of a shift towards more sustainable manufacturing as well as bring jobs to the Kootenay region through direct employment and from being an essential supplier for other local businesses.
