Small batch manufacturing of high-end products made from premium composites and materials. We harvest wood locally and machine it in our millwork shop with traditional and CNC technology. Techniques for pressing include vacuum and compression moulding.

How many employees and/or contractors do you work with?

Five to ten depending on the season.

What brought you to the Kootenays and how long have you been here?

The adventure possibilities and the ease of access. Since 1992.

Tell us about the history and relative work experience of your founder(s).

Al Eagleton – 30 years of designing and building everything from houses to high end furniture gave me desire to explore the manufacturing process further. Alpine skis seemed like the obvious choice as it’s my passion and my wood and millwork skills married nicely.

Jacob Jamin – Artist, designer, and brand experience creator for over 35 years. Experience in branding, print design and production, web design, merchandising, and fashion & apparel design and production across industries including apparel, tourism, health, sports and too many more to list. There’s no excuse for bad design!

Describe the mission, vision, goals, and aspirations of your company.

Instinct wants to carve a little slice out of the global ski market. We love skiing. We love the mountains. We make skis for people who feel the same.
