Kimberley Community Development Society
For over 30 years, the Kimberley Community Development Society (KCDS) has been involved in the development and operation of recreation and tourism facilities in Kimberley BC. As Kimberley made its transition from a mining town to a destination for outdoor recreation and cultural events, the KCDS has worked in cooperation with the City of Kimberley’s economic development programs to capitalize on opportunities to enhance community amenities.
Some of the assets that have been created and brought to maturity through KCDS are the Bootleg Gap Golf Course, Kimberley Conference and Athletic Training Centre, and the Riverside Campground. KCDS has also overseen the operation of the Cominco Gardens since they were turned over to the City.
The other key role of the KCDS has been to provide financial services (bookkeeping, payroll, record keeping) for non-profit community organizations connected to the tourism and recreation sector. The KCDS currently assists roughly 10 different organizations in maintaining proper sets of accounts. KORE is the latest group that we have partnered with to provide financial oversight and administrative collaboration as the organization establishes itself as a driver for outdoor gear manufacturing in the Kootenays.
