KORE Partners with PacifiCan
“It’s going to be the OR Show of the North.” Such was the prediction by an attendee of the second annual KORE Outdoor Rec-tech Summit held October 11-13, 2023 at the Kimberley Conference Centre in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia. And the prophecy about the grassroots conference emulating the preeminent Outdoor Retailer Expo in America is well on its way to fruition thanks to a new partnership with PacifiCan through its Community Economic Development and Diversification program.
The KORE Summit is Canada’s only conference dedicated to the outdoor rec-tech manufacturing and product design sector and this year all manner of professionals and entrepreneurs were in attendance from manufacturers and designers to government representatives and professors. There were also a record number of students in attendance and specific break-out sessions dedicated to academia and its role in the overall industry.
Highlights of the 2023 event were the 17 presentations including one by Phil Shellhammer who attended the conference from Arkansas to discuss the robust rec-tech sector he’s helped create in that state. There were also two panel discussions about the topics of outdoor gear circularity and inspiring the next generation of gear manufacturers and multiple meet-up sessions revolving around a variety of topics from digital adoption to rec-tech networks.
PacifiCan helped fund part of the 2023 Summit and will provide further partnership for next year’s conference, which will once again take place in Kimberley from October 2nd to the 4th.
The organization’s Community Economic Development and Diversification program supports development initiatives that contribute to the economic growth and diversification of communities across British Columbia and enables them to leverage their capacity and strengths to respond to economic development opportunities and adjust to changing and challenging economic circumstances.
In short, PacifiCan is helping KORE’s goals in advancing the outdoor rec-tech industry in, not only the Kootenay region of BC, but across Canada.
