KORE Launches Kootenay Approved Campaign

The Kootenay Outdoor Recreation Enterprise (KORE) has launched “Kootenay Approved,” a branding and attraction campaign that promotes the south-eastern region of British Columbia, its designers, manufacturers, and business people in the outdoor rec-tech industry who are responsible for the craft gear from here.

Funded by ETSI-BC’s Innovating and Advancing Key Sectors program, the “Kootenay Approved” campaign has a primary mission to raise consumer awareness of the KORE gear maker and creator cluster, increase sales of the products they’re responsible for, and attract business growth in the Kootenays. In short, it promotes the craft gear from here, one of the most renowned mountain regions in the world, and celebrates the way of life unique to this area of BC.

As part of the initiative, KORE is collaborating with Kootenay economic development offices and tourism destination marketing organizations to promote Kootenay brands, tourism, and municipal and regional development. Some elements of the project include:

• Branding creation (see logos above)
• Articles promoting local success stories
• In-store displays in retail locations
• Podcast guest outreach
• Promotional toolkit

Another element of the campaign is a partnership with the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival 2023. KORE will have a presence at the event’s marketplace November 3-6, 2023 and its messaging will appear in the event’s trailer.

“The Kootenay region of British Columbia, KORE’s backyard, is a craft outdoor gear makers dreamland for testing,” says Board Chair Powder Matt Mosteller. “It’s one of the most wild, naturally beautiful, incredibly diverse landscapes in North America, combined with some of the craziest conditions: we have raging rivers and vertical rock walls all mixed together with legendary mountain ranges that can get up to 70 feet of snow a season!”
