KORE is once again proud to be partnering with the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival this year and will be attending the festival from Oct 29 to Nov 3 to showcase the outdoor gear being created here in the Kootenays.
As part of the partnership, KORE will have a booth at the Festival Marketplace, which is being held in the Kinnear Building at the Banff Centre. The booth will contain a custom display featuring outdoor gear designed and manufactured by Kootenay-based entrepreneurs, from backpacks and tents to bikes, skis, and headlamps.
There will be various gear makers and KORE representatives at the booth throughout the festival, including Dark Horse Innovations owner and Nelson resident Cam Shute. Not only will Cam be on site with KORE, but he will also be taking part in the panel discussion on Sunday, November 3 at 10 AM MT called “Where Did it Come From, Where is it Going? – The Lifecycle of your Outdoor Gear.” He will be on stage with Dominique Showers of the Arc’teryx Rebird Program, Ryan Vachon of Rab, and Martin Baker of ANEW Climate.
He says, “I’m super excited to represent KORE and Dark Horse Innovations and speak about sustainability, which is so core to my values. The opportunity to raise awareness, shift consumer behaviour, even slowly, is what excites me most.”
Panel Discussion Description:
“We have gear and clothing that allow us to spend time in environments that we love, but how do we ensure the products we’re using have the minimum environmental impact possible? Join representatives from Arc’teryx, Rab, KORE, and Anew Climate as they explore what a sustainable outdoor apparel and gear industry looks like.”
The partnership with the Banff Mountain Festival is a component of the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP), which is overseen by British Columbia’s Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation.
This is the 49th year the festival has been held, and 2024 offers a lineup of over 60 live events in Banff, including adventurers, authors, and filmmakers sharing their stories. There will also be approximately 85 films from around the world shown on the big screen, free presentations, happy hours with music, campfire conversations with special guests, downtown events and exhibitions, and more.
